Recently a friend with a mental health diagnosis both handicapped. A self-description may be used by me, for ends or if only out of habit. Many with mental illness are recovering more from their therapy and these self-descriptions than anything else. A micro-industry has grown up around recovery but the need to recover is not automatically due to real causes. Recently it mentally ill; my diagnosis may be incorrect am not saying it is wrong, only that it could be. Empirically bipolar disorder does not even exist; it is a tradition of psychiatry. Genuine illness and human disturbance exist, and there has been movement in their therapy. However, without greater consciousness, healing and mental illness can be mutually reinforcing: the identification producing the treatment that communicates the secondary illness that will necessitate recovery.
To reclaim identity and our health, the Concept of recovery must eventually be dispensed with. Retrieval reminds one of what one is recovering from, strengthening the existence and reality of mental illness. It enables disablement. There could be an character, although have accepted myself as much as am going to; not much. Survived and have defied myself. There has been just one of me all along and deluded as ever, although have seen myself, with the bipolar notion, as two halves of a soul locked in civil war.
